Juvenile
Hall Complex
San Diego, CA
LSW
conducted an initial feasibility study and schematic design for 1,400-ton
chiller plant (CFC) and HVAC system. We surveyed the age and condition of the
existing chillers, chilled water pumps, tower water pumps & cooling
towers. We also interviewed operating staff and service contractor to
determine adequacy of existing equipment, and reviewed utility bills and
developed load profiles. In addition, we provided SPC documentation and
follow-up monitoring to support the $116,000 incentive from the local
utility.
This project also included replacing ceiling plenum, and a constant volume
air supply system with a ducted, variable volume system in the Probation
building. We were also responsible for conversion of controls for the
Juvenile Hall, Probation Building, and Court Building to DDC. We provided new
cooling plant to serve Probation & Court Buildings, and replaced rooftop
air handlers with VAV/VFD air handlers at the Court Building. We also
coordinated with the concurrent master planning for the complex, and
installed lighting controls in both buildings.
