Electrical Systems Designer

Job Description

LSW Engineers is seeking an Electrical Systems Designer to join our Phoenix AZ office. You will serve as a critical design team member in electrical systems development and coordination of the electrical systems discipline for construction design projects. This position requires interaction with the firmís project team members (designers and engineers from mechanical, plumbing, and special systems disciplines), architects, consultants, clients, and contractors to identify project requirements, develop engineering concepts, present options, and recommendations in order to meet the project needs. You will have the ability to demonstrate a trustworthy presence through your professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

Apply strong technical design skills and knowledge to produce accurate and timely project deliverables. Support project requirements with client interface, field investigation, basis of design narratives, develop complete electrical construction design documents, including editing of standard technical specifications, comply with all applicable codes and statues, review submittals, and support the project through construction completion.

  1. Provide a leadership role to share your knowledge with other design staff.
  2. Provide design information and effectively delegate work to production support staff as applicable.
  3. Design projects for compliance with city, state, and national building codes, compliance with owner standards, and industry construction standards (NEC, NFPA, IECC, IBC, LEED, etc.)
  4. Meet with and interact with clients and project stakeholders.
  5. Communicate with manufacturers and contractors to stay abreast of the latest trends and electrical systems technology.

Other Preferred Qualifications

  1. NCQLP Lighting Certification (LC).
  2. LEED AP or specific program entity.

You will assist the design team in either electrical or mechanical systems modeling for construction design projects. This position requires interaction with the firmís project team members (designers and engineers from mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and special systems disciplines) to identify modeling requirements in order to meet the project needs. You will have the ability to demonstrate a trustworthy presence through your professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowledge of Revit. Responsibilities

Apply Revit modeling skills and knowledge to produce accurate and timely project documents. Adhere to established company Revit standards and continue to develop improved workflow along with a team of experienced Revit personnel. Support project design team in coordination and completeness of design documents.

  1. Input design redlines into Revit model and AutoCAD drawings.
  2. Maintain company modeling and drafting standards.
  3. Seek for workflow optimization and improvement.
  4. Produce construction design documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD.

You will serve as a critical design team member in technology service leadership, coordination and development of the special systems discipline for construction design projects. This position requires interaction with the firmís project team members (designers and engineers from mechanical, plumbing, and electrical disciplines), architects, consultants, clients, and contractors to identify project requirements, develop engineering concepts, present options, and recommendations in order to meet the project needs. You will have the ability to demonstrate a trustworthy presence through your professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

Apply strong technical design skills and knowledge to produce accurate and timely deliverables. Support project requirements with basis of design narratives, opinion of probable cost estimates, drawing documentation, system design, technical specifications for telecommunication structure, OSP cabling, wireless access, telephony systems, access control, intrusion detection, surveillance (CCTV), CATV cabling, public address, and audio/visual systems.

  1. Provide a leadership role to share your knowledge with other design staff.
  2. Effectively delegate work to production support staff.
  3. Review projects for compliance with city, state and national building codes, compliance with owner standards and industry construction standards (BiCSi, EIA/TIA,etc.)
  4. Meet with and interact with clients and project stakeholders.
  5. Communicate with manufacturers and contractors to stay abreast of the latest trends and technology.
  6. Construction overview in order to insure the client is provided with the highest quality installations that meet the construction document criteria and ownerís requirements.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  1. Excellent skills with 5+ yearsí experience, designing Information Technology Systems.
  2. Average knowledge of recent versions of Revit and AutoCAD.
  3. General knowledge with NEC, NFPA, EIA/TIA, and BiCSi standards.
  4. Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables.
  5. Good oral and written communication skills.
  6. General working knowledge of basic network electronics design.

Other Preferred Qualifications

  1. BiCSi Affiliated RCDD certification.
  2. Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D).
  3. BSEE/BSAE (or other engineering discipline with applicable experience).
